Stratum V2 is the modern mining protocol standard designed to address the limitations of Stratum V1. It was developed by Braiins and Matt Corallo and has been maintained by an independent, open-source community and contributors across the industry for over 4 years.

Challenge
The protocol introduced features like binary messaging, template negotiation, and encryption. These are critical for miners and pools, but for most users, the value isn’t obvious. The biggest design challenge I faced was how to take these very technical ideas and make them understandable and useful for people who aren’t protocol engineers. On top of that, mining is a global activity. We knew the website and resources couldn’t just serve English speakers. We had to make it accessible across languages and cultures.
Objective
Map out user journeys separately and then create dedicated sections and pages for each audience To give clarity without overloading users. -Clear hero redesign to quickly communicate SV2’s value. -Information architecture restructure: separate flows for miners, pool operators, devs, and the public. -Prototype interactions to bring technical ideas to life in an approachable way. -Test flows during working group calls, iterate on responsiveness, translations, and clarity of technical terms, and refine animations based on feedback. -Add Supporters section carousel to show credibility.
Results
A fully redesigned website and brand experience that speaks directly to miners, pools, and developers. By translating complex protocol specs into a clear, modern UI, and pairing it with compelling visuals, we’ve made Stratum V2 more approachable, trusted, and adoption-ready — empowering the Bitcoin mining community to capture more profit, operate securely, and scale without barriers.
